Community Service

Jackson’s community service initiative is designed to educate Jackson students and their families about people in need in our community and the organizations that exist to help them. Ultimately, our goal is to raise awareness about less fortunate people and give Jackson students opportunities to make a contribution towards helping them. By partnering with charitable and philanthropic organizations on service projects, Jackson students and their families can experience how working together can make a positive difference.

The Bert Show’s Big Thank You – In the fall, students participate in a project sending letters of thanks to soldiers stationed or deployed outside the United States on Thanksgiving Day. More information including pick up dates will be provided by the teacher. Visit for more information.

Rise Against Hunger Project — Jackson families pack 10,000 nutrient rich meals, working together in a high energy, hands on assembly line.


For over a decade, Jackson families have helped make the holiday season a little brighter for children in need within our own Atlanta Public School system. By partnering with the school district’s social workers, our families purchase holiday gifts for over 400 children. Please consider doing what you can to help spread joy this holiday season. We are in need of unused toys and children's items to expand our Present Pantry, which is a collection of items utilized for children who are added to Holiday Helpers outreach too late to submit their wish list and to be assigned to a generous family. Our goal is to fill The Present Pantry with a robust variety of gifts to allow social workers to pick out a few items for these additional children.


We are in need of helping hands to help collect, organize and distribute our Holiday Helper gifts. It takes a village to make sure that each gift makes it to the child in need and we appreciate participation from all that are able to help.

In an effort to buy last minute gifts, unspecified or hard to find items and provide flexibility in item selection for our Holiday Helpers we are collecting gift cards in any denomination from stores such as...

Clothing Donations – Unclaimed clothing from the Lost & Found areas at both campuses are collected and donated to charity several times a year. 


Atlanta winters can be brutal and many children throughout the metro area do not have a proper coat to stay warm. Often times these coats can be their only form of warm for the season.

​We are collecting new and gently-used winter coats for both boys and girls in all sizes at the following times:

​- Fall Festival

- Holiday Helper drop off (December)

IDEA: As your children out grow their coats each year, put aside their old coats for donation.
