Located in a wooded enclave in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Warren T. Jackson Elementary School enjoys the respect and support of its community and the state and nation at large, having been recognized as both a Georgia School of Excellence and a National Blue Ribbon School. In 2007, Jackson was designated a International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Our Primary Years Program (PYP) provides inquiry based instruction that focuses on the whole child and emphasizes central ideas and real world connections. Our IB Program of Inquiry focuses content through a variety of lenses, including Who We Are, Where We Are In Place and Time, How We Organize Ourselves, How the World Works, How We Express Ourselves, and How We Share the Planet. Through these lenses we organize the Georgia Performance Standards and meet or exceed expectations for teaching and learning across the curriculum. We strive to develop students who ask questions and seek solutions through integrated study, thoughtful reflections, and actions that demonstrate IB attitudes and profiles.
Jackson serves 825 students, kindergarten through 5th graders, and provides a rigorous, yet developmentally appropriate education focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition to these basic subjects, Jackson students enjoy foreign language (French) instruction, art, music, physical education, and computer classes, and have available support instruction for both remedial and gifted students. Ours is a family friendly school that seeks to maximize the benefits of a supportive parent body working closely with a highly qualified staff dedicated to the success of each student. We welcome your inquiry and invite you to visit Jackson and see for yourself why we are so proud of our school.
